Description
Venice, Italy is a fascinating and beautiful place, with canals instead of roads, boats and gondolas instead of cars, with unique culture, traditions and architecture. It is completely surrounded by water and crossed by over 150 canals. The Grand Canal is the biggest and splits the city in two parts. There are over 400 footbridges crossing the canals, some of them are private. Only four bridges cross the Grand Canal, and most famous of them all is the Rialto Bridge.
The Accademia Bridge, a.k.a. the Ponte dell'Accademia, is not as famous as the Rialto Bridge but is an important footbridge across the Grand Canal, connecting the San Marco quarter with the Dorsoduro quarter and is convenient if you are going to the Santa Maria della Salute church, the Peggy Guggenheim Museum or the Galleria dell'Accademia.
