Artist's Description
The Mole Antonelliana is captured from a low angle, bathed in the warm hues of a setting sun. Its detailed architecture stands out against a blue sky.
Mole Antonelliana is an architectural landmark and symbol of the city of Turin, Italy. It is named after its architect, Alessandro Antonelli. A mole in Italian means a building of monumental proportions. Mole Antonelliana was initially conceived as a synagogue, before being bought by the city of Turin and made into a monument to national unity. The building was completed in 1889. With a height of 167 meters, it was the tallest brick building in Europe at the time. Today visitors can take a glass elevator/lift to go up to the panoramic terrace and take in the amazing 360-degree views of the city and the surrounding Alps.
Since 2000, the building has housed the Museo Nazionale del Cinema (National Museum of Cinema).
