Description
Lavender (Lavandula) decorates landscapes as a favorite plant of many due to its fragrance. While the most commonly planted varieties have pleasing aromas, some species of lavender have strong fragrances that aren't pleasing. Those with pleasing aromas commonly are dried for use as potpourri or in sachets, or their oils are used on the body. Some varieties are used by perfume makers while others can be used in cooking.
The lilac flowers cover the spikes of the lavender plant and rise above the foliage in this image. It's a sunny summer day, as you can see from the golden background.
