The grand 14th century Certosa di Pavia is a historic church and monastery for the secluded and silent monks. This hidden gem is located about half an hour away from Milan, Italy. The imposing marble facade of the Certosa is decorated with statues and carvings of saints and Roman emperors. It is a masterpiece of the Renaissance decorative design. Inside the church are many paintings and frescoes, as well as carved wooden choir stalls and an important collection of stained glass windows.
